Sandstone Pit
A nice looking sandstone firepit, with a slight problem.
This customer has installed the burner, then laid the capping stones on top of the burner tray. This is against all the recommendation in our installation manual, for two reasons.
Firstly, the stone is now a lot closer to the heat. You can see the flames actually touching the stone. This will create a local hot spot and is very likely to crack the stone.
Secondly, it’s impossible to lift the burner to access underneath for servicing, without having to remove the capping stones first. They could break trying to lift them.
We did make this customer aware of this, so hopefully he’s cut the stone back by now.
